Collection consists of 4 letters written by John Wilbur (1842-43 + 184-?) and 1 by Enos Lee (1839) all to Alice Knight and a copy of a minute of the General Meeting of Friends in Fallsington (1861). Wilbur is grateful for Knight's support in the doctrinal controversy arising in Meetings and cites letters and visits from people who attempt to divert him from his course and ultimately attempt to have him disowned though he estimates the Gurney cause is weakening (1842); sometimes despondent over his situation, a warrior of the Lord "against the doctrines of vitality" (1 mo 13th 1843); firm stand of Phila. and Ohio Meetings against his opposition. Asks position of Baltimore and English Friends whom she met (11 mo 29th 1843); does not believe he will be reinstated in his Meeting; the minute of the General Meeting states that as Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and its constituent Meetings identify themselves with Joseph John Gurney, it no longer considers them as part of the Society of Friends (1861).

The General Meeting... was established in 1860 in Fallsington, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Other Meetings in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio became constituent parts. This Primitive group of Friends first was named Baltimore Yearly Meeting.
